2nd WEEK OF SCHOOL, TIRED ALREADY || NEW SEMESTER FAILED RESOLUTIONS || STUDENTS BLOCK

Hello Lovelies!

Before a new school year or semester begins we always have new semester resolutions that most of start breaking on the first day of school.

We want to start studying from the first day school, want to create a study timetable and follow it and want to stop waiting till exam period before we start studying and many more resolutions. I am guilty of all these. But what really stops us from doing these?

Where does the motivation go when school actually begins?

It is the 2nd week of school and I am already getting sleepy in class, getting bored and easily distracted. I know it’s too early.

You would say as a medical student I need to be active, study very often, listen in class. But we all have this moment right? Or am I alone?

I cannot blame the weather or my teachers because I know the problem is from me. Blaming anyone or anything is just looking for excuses.

Do you have any advice for me during these unmotivated times?

Do you also have times like this in school? If yes how did you handle these times?

Let’s interact and find ways to get rid of this laziness.

  1. You have to have stick notes on wall reminding you of your resolutions, u also need to write it down on the front page of your note books too.. finally you have to just fight that laziness .. only you can

  2. Isn't it so obvious virtually every student experience this at least once during school periods? I think its normal we feel lazy not that am trying to convince myself because I do it like so often but we still survive it especially when a teacher hints out a specific line and say it will come out in some tests or exams. We actually do listen but we are humans and some are just smart and a bit lazy no matter what.

    1. Feels a bit good to know that i am not alone. But learning and life will be easier and if we can overcome procrastination. Gradually we will overcome it By Hard work. Thanks for your comment.

  3. So true about the resolutions and all those things. We all tend to get lazy and that's normal. What I've learnt during this short period I've been in a Medical school so far is that you can't or don't expect to get motivation from class mates or any other people. Stick reminders on your wall yeah and write them down in any book you usually open each day, that will help cause I've found it helpful. Even when you feel lazy try by all means never to procrastinate cause that's where it all starts from. Be self motivated and constantly remind yourself of what you wouldn't like seeing in yourself when you're done lol that will help you better yourself each day. Hope this will help thanks....

  4. Interestingly, the same things happened to me in the first weeks of school. I blamed some of my teachers for being slow and boring. My Chemistry teacher talks like he is sleeping and he talks alot. I was so sleepy in his first classes but I got used to it and now I am more attentive in his class. My teacher for American literature talks as though he is asleep as well. I have to have a cup of coffee and a muffin to keep me up in his class, even today. At first I blamed my instructors, but then I realized that I had to make a way to ace this courses; it is definately mandatory to make A's in them. Thus, I started making the most of my planner. I'm trying to change my circadian rhythm. I sleep earlier when I can, wake up in the middle of the night to study, and then go back for a quick nap before I leave for school at 7am. School coupled with work is not easy but every semester, I find a way to adjust to the unique nature of the semester. In a nutshell, it might not necessarily be laziness, it might just be making some little but helpful adjustments.

  5. its normal to get bored sometimes during a lecture ,especially when the teacher acting like he didnt take his breakfast or lunch ,i often feel sleepy in class too , losing focus and all , but what i discovered is whenever i got bored in class i found myself doing another thing if not sleeping ,yeah ,but the thing that helped me is this one ,let me take it in this way , when you feel lazy what do u do ?, sleep , log on facebook , chat with somebody you dont often chat with on whatsup lol or rather play temple run on your phone ,its nothing so serious trust me , so i started weighing the alternatives i take for this boring lecture , is it worth it ? , is the newsfeed im reading on facebook better than the lecture ? , yes its boring but its just boring for that moment because i can go on fb anytime , so i refused to let my brain play a trick on me , the brain always opt for the easier entertaining things like sleeping ,and looking on peoples statuses on whatsapp ,so i started telling myself that "dude you need to focus now you will chat with that person who is probably on his own free time when you are free or sleep when its time to sleep now its time to get stuff from this boring teacher " it plays the trick on your brain and activate all those neurons , yeah its kinda working for me .

  6. Thank you for sharing this.
Haven been in such a situation, I've always been motivated by the sayings "nothing good comes easy" and "what should be done has to be done".
It's not easy keeping up with a planned schedule but when we keep reminding ourselves of the importance of doing the right things " at the right time " we tend to be on track for success.

I know it's not easy but trying hard to avoid procrastination helps us to get organized for what is to come. Once we follow our goal of meeting up with our resolutions "come what may",a pattern is created in the brain and subsequently we wouldn't have to remind ourselves to study; the feeling comes up spontaneously whether you're in a study mood or not.

    Best wishes.
